It is critical to focus on a single machine for the initial set-up reduction
project. The team should complete that machine before going on to
a similar machine. This will allow the team to learn what works and
what doesn’t work on the production floor. It is also costly to implement
and correct flawed methods on a grand scale. Therefore, get the method
optimized for performance before adopting it to similar applications.
Assess the improvements and adjust if necessary:
Once an appropriate number of set-ups have been performed, the set-up
team will be required to assess the new method. It may be necessary
to make a few adjustments and repeat the validation process.
