Supplier Development Setup Reduction Guide
Achieve Results

Test, validate, and practice the new method:
The set-up team will be required to suggest an improved set-up method and to test its effectiveness.  The new method may have to be performed time and time again to gain proficiency.  It is highly recommended that the new method only be implemented on a single machine.

It is critical to focus on a single machine for the initial set-up reduction project.  The team should complete that machine before going on to a similar machine.  This will allow the team to learn what works and what doesn’t work on the production floor.  It is also costly to implement and correct flawed methods on a grand scale.  Therefore, get the method optimized for performance before adopting it to similar applications.

Assess the improvements and adjust if necessary:
Once an appropriate number of set-ups have been performed, the set-up team will be required to assess the new method.  It may be necessary to make a few adjustments and repeat the validation process.
